Role in Peakmind Louise
Venables conducts all client
operations at the Swansea clinic, including qEEGs, clinical interviews
and
reports, and neurofeedback training sessions. Background
and interest Dr. Louise Venables CPsychol completed her
doctorate in Psychology in 2007 (Liverpool John Moores University).
Prior to
this, Louise attained a Master’s degree (MSc with distinction) in
Cognitive and
Affective Neuroscience at the University of Liverpool. Louise currently
works
as a Research Fellow in Cognitive Neuroscience. This involves carrying
out
numerous electroencephalograph (EEG), neuroimaging and neurofeedback
projects. She is based at Swansea University but collaborates with
both
Bangor and Cardiff Universities. Louise is a
neurofeedback practioner as well as a research fellow. Louise
has received neurofeedback
training from the Society of Applied Neuroscience (SAN). Her
research
has focused on the psychophysiological (body) and neuropsychological
(brain)
activity underlying peak performance and maladaptive states (e.g.
stress/distress, fatigue, disengagement, loss of motivation), as well
as
devising interventions and techniques to help individuals improve
functioning,
focusing mainly on neurofeedback. Neurofeedback studies so far include
applied
investigations into the effects of neurofeedback training on anxiety
reduction,
performance enhancement, and dieting success.
