Background and interest

Neil completed his PhD in neuropsychology at Swansea University in 2005 after working in clinical settings with a number of neurorehabilitation providers. Neil received EEG Spectrum accredited training in neurofeedback in 2005 and has since practised this treatment approach as a director of PeakMind.

He is both a Chartered Scientist and Chartered Psychologist who has conducted research including the development of new methods of measuring affective experience whilst interacting with everyday products.
Other research has been funded by the
BIAL foundation, along with Dr Soren Andersen from PeakMind, to refine the methodology of alpha neurofeedback and explore its effect on cognition and mood. He has also just applied to St. Andrew’s Hospital, Northampton for a research grant to fund a project evaluating the effects of neurofeedback in a sample with dementia, and also a sample with traumatic brain injury. He is currently supervising a PhD research student, Berta Pacheco, who is investigating the mechanisms of cognitive enhancement using neurofeedback training.

He has published in peer-reviewed academic international journals, presented at international conferences, and given several invited lectures regarding neurofeedback, especially with Cerebra, the charity for children with neurological damage.
