Role in Peakmind

Søren Bo Andersen is principally involved in analyzing and interpreting clinical data, writing reports and identifying optimal neurofeedback training protocols.

Background and interest

Søren has a PhD in psychophysiology from the University of Portsmouth, specializing in the biological bases of behavior, emotions and personality.  He received neurofeedback training from the Society of Applied Neuroscience (SAN) of which he is also a council member since 2006.

He is both a neurofeedback research and practitioner and his research interest centre around personality and individual differences and their influence on the spontaneous EEG, as well as their moderating impact on the conditioning process during neurofeedback training.

Søren has been funded by

  • the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) to investigate the efficacy of neurofeedback in reducing anxiety,
  • the Welsch institute of Cognitive Neuroscience with Dr Louise Venables from Peakmind to investigate the cognitive effects of alpha neurofeedback training
  • BIAL, with Dr Neil Rutterford from Peakmind to refine the methodology of alpha EEG biofeedback and explore its effect on cognition and mood

He has published in international journals, presented at internal conferences, given several invited talks on neurofeedback and supervised BSC and MSC research students from Aalborg University, Denmark. Recently, he supervised a master student who successfully completed a controversial theoretical thesis on addiction to stress.

Besides his neurofeedback interest, Søren is keen on developing new and better project management and leadership skills and has attended Ramboll Attractor’s Project Management course as well as FranklinCoveys 7 habits leadership course.
